On This Day.

Mark and I welcome you all to join us at Between Beaches.

We thank you in advance for your flexibility and your willingness for a true adventure. Some of our activities for the day will be dictated by the tide and the call of the wild.

Morning

Some guests will be coming in from the Village. We will have a large brunch - family style - ready and available to greet them when they arrive. This will include eggs, meat, cheeses, sweets, fruits, coffee, and more.

(According to the NOAA tidal charts for this day low tide is around 9a. That means that if you are interested in tidepooling that would be about the time to be in your muck boots!)

Day

We will spend the day beachcombing and exploring the spit. There are many activities available for us to do together or split off if you prefer. As you read through the (below) activities think about what you may want to pack & bring for a day trip. Including a change of clothes or swimsuit or muck boots for ocean walking.

We will have all that we need for a light lunch. It is our wish that you feel completely at home for the day! There is no need to bring any provisions at all. Please be our guest for food, beverages and amenities. We will be sharing all the cabin spaces in a casual family-style for rest or privacy, and sprucing.

Evening

We would love for our wedding celebration to be at high tide. According to the NOAA tidal charts for this day that will be somewhere around 4p. We will find a place to gather around this time for a very brief ceremony. Chris Senesac will be our charming officiator.

Attire: Please feel free to wear what suits you for a beach setting and makes you feel comfortable. It will be a rustic event and your comfort is so important. Feel free to get in touch if you have questions on attire.

Dinner will be a handmade spread of family-style pasta with both a seafood and meat option, greens, and bread loaf. Dessert will be…whatever we can find at the bakery in Homer. ;)

Evening activities may consist of beach bonfire and dancing (why not?!) or hot tub, sauna, or just relaxing by the bay. Choose your own adventure.

What’s to do?

Here are a bunch of things to do or see during our day at the cabins.

Tidepooling.

One of the most anticipated events each day at MacDonald Spit. Kachemak Bay (widely known as one of the richest and most prolific bays in the word) is home to abundant sea life and sea creatures. At low/minus tide, tide pools reveal a wonderous and brilliantly colorful array of these treasures of the sea. You can find Octopus, Sea Urchins, Sea Stars, small fish, Sea Anemones and so much more. Tide pooling is a fun, exciting and educational exploration of coastal nature.

Wildlife and Bird Viewing.

From the beaches of MacDonald Spit you will view incredible and plentiful Marine Mammals as well as land and sea birds. Sea Mammals include Sea Otter, Seal, Sea Lion and an occasional Whale. The protected waters of Kasitsna and Kachemak Bay are a Kayakers dream come true. Between Beaches Alaska Lodge on MacDonald Spit is a rare location where you have the choice to Kayak from either beach, just a short walk from each other. If the weather is too rough on the west side beach, you simply walk over to the east side and vice versa. It is an experience you will remember for a lifetime and want to repeat.
